Level 1 Course Description- Level 1 course will cover (4) main topics: HIV 101, opportunistic infections, sexually transmitted diseases and medication adherence. By the end of this level, the student will be able to: (1) have an overall understanding of HIV; (2) recognize the body’s response when HIV is not being properly managed and enters in the AIDS phase on the disease; (3) identify prevalent STIs, their symptoms and risk behaviors associated with them; (4) understand the importance of medical adherence to prescriptions for PLWHA including barriers to proper adherence.
